Welcome to the second  special Irregular Update in two weeks. Last weeks Update was special because it was unplanned, and this weeks is special because it contains a Feature Story.

If for some reason you missed last weeks Special Edition of the Irregular Update, you would have missed the article on the sale of Seppeltsfield. Based on the feedback comments, the sale of the jewel in the Barossa crown was certainly welcomed by the majority of readers. Nathan Waks, the man behind the deal has certainly shown his true colours by not only being frank and open with me during our interview, since that time he has also fielded questions on a couple of the Australian wine forums. If you have not already done so, I recommend you read "A New Beginning for an Historic Icon."

This week, I have a special treat for you. Do you know who is Australia's most awarded winemaker? My bet is that few people outside of the wine industry will know, as this character, and he is a real character, generally maintains a low public profile. Since his departure from one of the largest wine companies in Australia, to "take things easy and do a bit of consulting," this beer-swilling smoker has maintained a pace that made me tired just hearing about it. Articles about this guy have been written before but they just tend to be the usual boring bio, so I decided to tell his story in a no holds barred fashion that truly shows what this unique man is all about, and what makes him tick. I guarantee you will chuckle and be fascinated when you read 'A True Story' – Australia’s most Decorated Winemaker. And if you don't enjoy reading it half as much as I did interviewing him and writing it, you can get your money back. Grab a glass of good red and click here.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) I am off to McLaren vale and the Barossa for ten days with Red Bigot and the Pie King. We are doing another Tour Diary Trip, so there won't be any Irregular Updates for a few weeks. However, the news section will be updated regularly, and if there is anything important or really interesting that won't wait, I will post a Snippet on the home page. If you want to know when these are posted, you can subscribe to the RSS feed on TORBWine.

Speaking of Snippets, a new one has been added. Fosters recently announced their financial results and some of the comments made by their CEO are most telling. They have been analysed a Snippet called, Oh Dear Me.

The News section has been back to normal this week. Some of the stories of possible interest include:

  • Foster's drinks to a change in fortunes

  • Foster's reaches for the top-shelf

  • E&T assets covers ANZ debt only

  • Wine grape growers request for early price announcement

  • EU opens tender to distil wine into biofuel

Those stories and more can be found here.

This weeks quote. "If penicillin can cure those that are ill, Spanish sherry can bring the dead back to life." - Sir Alexander Fleming

Until regular transmission resumes ....  Cheers!

Ric
