Welcome to this weeks Irregular Update and Chapter Two of the 2007 South Australian Tour Diaries. As well as the Tour Diary, this week there is a new Snippet. Titled "Slack journalism or do they believe this cr*p, it briefly examines the propensity for wineries to stretch the truth and for newspapers to print their rubbish.  It can be found here.

This week, we continue our journey through the wineries of McLaren Vale. First stop was a long visit to Wirra Wirra, which has resulted in a feature on this winery. They have an enviable commitment to quality. We then tasted a huge line up of reds at d'Arenberg. Many of these wines have just been released, so the notes are amongst the first to be published. Our next appointment was with one of the characters of the area, Justin McNamee of Samule's Gorge. In a short time, this winery has gained an awesome reputation. This write up will give you the inside poop on the guy and his wines. We also visited Kay Brothers and were fortunate enough to be able to try a few wines that were close to release. Gemtree was the final winery of the day and then it was off to the Victory Hotel for dinner. Read all the gory details here.

Each Chapter is pretty big and if you are anything like me, when it comes to reading large documents, you will prefer to read hard copy. Thanks to a suggestion from Mark Boulton at d'Arenberg, there is now a link in each Chapter what will allow you to print the document out in its correct format. It will print in landscape format to retain integrity, but reading that is a lot easier than a screen.

In case you missed Chapter One last week, it can be found here.

The feedback feature will be enabled in every Chapter, so please submit your feedback, thoughts and questions.

This weeks quote. "Johann Wolfgang Goethe, a famous German poet, once was asked which three things he would take to an island. He stated: "Poetry, a beautiful woman and enough bottles of the world's finest wines to survive this dry period!" Then he was asked what he would leave back first, if it was allowed to take only two things to the island. And he briefly replied: "The poetry!" Slightly surprised, the man asked the next question: "And Sir, what would you leave back if only one was allowed?" And Goethe thought for a couple of minutes and answered: "It depends on the vintage!"

Until next week ....  Cheers!

Ric
