Welcome to this weeks Irregular Update, which features Chapter Six of the Tour Diaries as well as a whole lot more for your reading pleasure.
First up, a classic Funny has been added. A small NSW wine distributor has decided to run for the Australian Federal Parliament in the upcoming election. You just have to read all about it. There is also a link on the home page to another funny newspaper article that looks at the lighter side of Being a member of W.I.N.E.
On a more serious note, a Readers Q & A has been added. This time, the "Q" is about the effect that pre+scription drgus (intention typos as spam filters pick up the real words) have on ones ability to taste wine. The "A" part is well beyond my scientific abilities so I passed it onto the other R. Einstein who happens to be the "family expert" in these matters, and who has Professor before her name, and PhD after it. Wine, Pil*s and Illness can be found here.
This week in Chapter Six of the 2007 South Australian Tour Diaries, we continue our journey through the Barossa. We only visited four wineries this day but the Chapter is a long one. We had a private tasting at Orlando/Jacobs Creek where we tried a large line-up of their top wines, many of which have not been released, so you will read about them here first. Winter Creek, as always shows how the Barossa can produce wonderful, seriously structured, fruit dominant wine without overt oak influence, or being over the top. A tour and tasting of the new Massena/Standish winery was next. Then I had a dummy spit at Turkey Flat, followed by a meet the new winemaker and tour of St Hallett. Chapter Six can be found here.
A few new tasting notes, all big wines, two with big names have been added. They can be found here.
The News section has been active over the past week. Some of the stories of possible interest include:
Those stories and more can be found here.
This weeks quote. "And Noah he often said to his wife when he sat down to dine, 'I don't care where the water goes if it doesn't get into the wine'." - G.K. Chesterton
Until next week .... Cheers! Ric
