Welcome to this weeks Irregular Update, which features the final chapter of this Tour Diary. As planned, for once, all chapters went out in weekly instalments, and the package has been wrapped up in less than 10 weeks since completing the trip. That might not sound like much but all told the whole box and dice is two hundred and nine  A4 pages, or seventy nine thousand one hundred and forty two words, and of course its all completely free and totally independent. All three hundred and twenty six tasting notes have already been uploaded to the database and indexed for searching. There are now just over 3,700 tasting notes available for searching.

Chapter Eight of the 2007 South Australian Tour Diaries covers the last day and a half of the trip.  Thursday's diary was an exact replica of the previous year as it worked so well. First up we visited Kurtz Family Winemakers and Steve is offering TORBWine readers the best value, everyday drinking wines possible. Elderton was a big surprise, Allister Ashmead took last years comments about peeling paint very seriously; the whole Cellar Door has had a refit and now looks as good as some of their wines. Then it was off to Rockford for a tasting followed by a long lunch. Friday saw us visiting Hobbs, some stunning wines there; and then the boys decided to make me 'live dangerously' by visiting Henschke and then Kabminye. The final winery was Charles Melton where we tried some upcoming releases. It can be found here.

Tasting notes for a number of new releases from Schubert Estate, Viking and Marius have been added. They can be found here.

The News section has been dead quiet over the past week. Stories of possible interest include:

  • Wine grape vintage expected to fall

  • New Greater Australia appellation will kill regionality: winemakers

  • Green wine? I'll drink to that.

Those stories can be found here.

This weeks quote. "It is well to remember that there are five reasons for drinking: the arrival of a friend; one's present or future thirst; the excellence of the wine; or any other reason" - Latin saying

Until next week ....  Cheers!

Ric
