Jeanneret 2004 Denis Shiraz Sept 08
Their flagship wine, it sells to $60 at cellar door and is sealed under
screwcap. The attractive, sweet bouquet exudes loads of pure fruit and spice. It
may not have a huge amount of complexity at this stage, but it has a huge amount
of intensity. Silky tannins and crisp acid combine with pure fruit to form a
muscular-weight wine with a silky consistency and almost seamless structure. The
intense, very-ripe, black fruit flavours fill the palate and produce a lovely
mouth feel and deliver dark chocolate, aniseed, spice, and loads of coffee oak
flavours. It finishes with excellent length and persistence and has a
well-developed complexity. Approachable now, it should improve in the short
term. Rated as Highly Recommended with ** for value, no doubt others will rate
is higher but from my perspective, a little less of everything would be better.
