Mike Press 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Aug 08 is sealed under screwcap. The bouquet was very ripe with black fruits, varietal Cabernet and green/tobacco leaf characters and vanilla. An elegant, almost lean wine with a supple consistency, solid structure and an agreeable complexity, the fruit is not overly generosity and a little thin. Coffee oak, plum, blackcurrant and cigar box, with loads of herbs dominating the mid-palate, it moves into cocoa/mocha and finishes with reasonable persistence. An easy drinking, inoffensive, and varietally correct Cabernet that should be better once the fruit has surfaced from below the tannins. Rated as Agreeable with ***** for value at $11 a bottle.
