Valhalla 2007 GSM Sept 08 sells for approximately $20 and is sealed under screwcap.
2007 was a very difficult vintage in Rutherglen. The fruit was sourced from a number of Rutherglen vineyards. The bouquet was dominated by sawdust over spicy fruit. Smooth, unobtrusive tannins combine with fresh acid to form a medium-weight wine with a supple consistency and a rounded structure. It's off-sweet on the uptake with spice and some sweetness below, however the green finish indicates it may have some unripe fruit components, or has been sourced from very young vines. An uncomplicated, easy drinking wine, it’s also food friendly; rated as Acceptable with *** for value, it's ready to drink now. Like many wines from Rutherglen in 2007, they should be better in easier vintage conditions.
